I was first licensed as a Novice while in high school in the early 1970ís. After school I was not licensed or active at all but always wanted  to get back.  In the summer of 2018 I took and passed both the Technician and General  exam. on August 16. On September 8 I passed my Extra exam. I purchased a ICOM 7300 and a 10-80 meter end fed wire antenna and finally got back on HF. I always enjoyed the challenge of CW operations and since 2019 I joined the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) and have obtained Senator level and WAS, DXQ and DXC recognition, my number is 19846S.  I am the ARES Emergency Coordinator for Jefferson County Illinois.
